SARASOTA, FL — An excavator came off a trailer shutting down a section of North Tamiami Trail Friday evening, Sarasota police wrote in a Facebook post around 5:40 p.m.

The crash happened south of University Parkway.

Traffic is being diverted at Remington Drive, police said.
