Weekend Events: Watch Wallenda Downtown
Mattison's and Circus Sarasota will host a Nik Wallenda viewing party called Above the Falls & Beyond Belief.

1. This is the viewing party of the summer in Sarasota. Come downtown with friends and watch on a tightrope. and has put together the event Friday.
A street party called Above the Falls & Beyond Belief will take place Friday from 6 p.m. to midnight at Mattison's and on Lemon Avenue between Main and First streets. The street party is free and includes the walk on a big screen, activities for kids of all ages, food and drink specials at Mattison's including some VIP offerings for $100. Fifty dollars of that is tax deductible as it serves as a fundraiser for Circus Sarasota. For reservations call 941-921-3400 or purchase VIP tickets atwww.mattisons.com.
2. It's time to play Saturday in Payne Park. Both a Saturday and the goes on from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine.

3. Florida Studio Theatre's opens this weekend. Starring Maria Couch, Joanna Parson, Billie Wildrick, Joshua Carter, and Stephen Hope as 30 wild characters, "Das Barbecu" is a musical comedy adaptation of Wagner's epic Ring Cycle -- set in the honky-tonk land of Texas! Directed by Dennis Courtney, with musical direction by David Nelson. Tickets cost $32.

4. Reward your bright student in the family with a free admission to . Students showing an “A” in science on their final report card for the school year get free Mote Aquarium admission (with purchase of an adult ticket). Normal ticket prices are $17 for adults, $16 for seniors over 65, $12 for kids ages 4-12 and free for kids ages 3 and younger. Mote Members always get in free.
5. The , 5100 Lakewood Ranch Blvd., is having a grand re-opening Saturday and features a “Teen Challenge” at 2 p.m.
