Weekend Things: Beertopia, Tim Conway, New Mote Exhibit and More

Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium will unveil a new exhibit Saturday featuring an extensive whale and dolphin bone collection.

2. Cheer on runners in the New Balance Ringling Bridge Run IX on Saturday.  The four mile run will start at 7:30 a.m.. Pre-race staging and other activities will be held in the parking lot of the  from 6:30 to 11:00 a.m.

3. will open a new exhibit Saturday highlighting the Ruth DeLynn Cetacean Osteological collection — a vast collection of dolphin and whale bones at Mote. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and last about 30 minute and end with a ribbon cutting. Guests will hear remarks from Mote’s president and senior staff before the ribbon is cut by Ruth DeLynn, the Mote adjunct scientist and volunteer who founded the Osteological Collection and has curated it for more than 30 years. Admission is $17 for adults, $16 for seniors over 65, $12 for children ages 4-12 and free for children ages 3 and younger. Mote Members always get in free.

4. Comedian Tim Conway performs his stand-up routine at Van Wezel on Sunday. The show co-stars Chuck McCann & Louise DuArt. Show starts at 7 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost $30 - $68.

5. Get a desingated driver and attend Beertopia in Lakewood Ranch Saturday to benefit the Junior League of Manatee County.  Tickets for the beer and food tasting festival cost $50 in advance, $60 at the door and $75 VIP ticket includes admission to the Polo Grill after-party event, transportation to and from the after party, a private seating area within Beertopia and a VIP gift bag. The first event is from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing
7051 Wireless Court, just south of Lakewood Ranch. The $75 ticket for the after-party gets you in at Polo Grill, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Lakewood Ranch.
