Woman, 72, Charged In Hit-And-Run That Killed 2 Kids: Sarasota Police
The suspect, who hit a family with her Lexus and drove away, was arrested weeks after the hit-and-run crash, Sarasota police said.

SARASOTA, FL — A 72-year-old Sarasota woman was arrested Monday on charges related to a February hit-and-run crash that killed two young children and critically injured their mother, authorities said.
June Fenton was charged with two counts of leaving the scene of a traffic crash resulting in a fatality and one county of leaving the scene of a traffic crash resulting in serious injury, according to a Sarasota Police Department news release.
The crash, involving a Lexus and a family crossing the road, happened Feb. 10 around 8:30 p.m. on N. Washington Boulevard near 7th Street in Sarasota.

The driver, later identified as Fenton, left the scene without rendering aid or calling 911, police said.
After “a thorough investigation,” both the Lexus and the driver were found, the department said.

The vehicle was recovered by police and a search warrant was executed to confirm that evidence collected from the crash site matched the car.
Fenton fully cooperated with the investigation, police added.
She remains in custody at Sarasota County Jail.
