Woman Found​ With Serious Injuries In Sarasota

A woman was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital​ with severe but non-life threatening injures after she was found Thursday morning.

SARASOTA, FL — A woman was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with severe but non-life threatening injures Thursday morning after she was found in the 1300 block of 2nd Street. Police were still trying to piece together what happened.

"Detectives do believe it's isolated and that the public is not in any danger," Genevieve Judge of the Sarasota Police Department told Patch.

Judge said the woman is believed to have suffered the injuries in the vicinity of an abandoned building. She did not know whether the woman was found inside or outside of the building. Police are treating the case as an aggravated battery.

"It's still under investigation. We're still trying to work details," judge said.

Sarasota police are asking the public to report anything unusual they may have seen or heard in the 1300 block of 2nd Street early Thursday morning or late Wednesday.
