Know Your Neighbor: D & D Antiques
The store is at 4709 N. Florida Avenue in Seminole Heights.
A few years ago, Debra Vallejo and husband David moved into an expanded space to run D&D Antiques on North Florida Avenue.
Now, the 2,600 square foot space houses items like jewelry, desks, chairs and dressers.
We recently caught up with Debra Vallejo to ask about her most popular items, and what she thinks about the Seminole Heights community.
On her most popular items:Â "Desks, chairs and dressers."
On how the shop operates: "I have 11 different dealers who rent space from me and merchandise their spaces. My husband and I have half of the square footage ourselves that we maintain with our things. I take items on consignment. IÂ call him my secret weapon. He repurposes items."
How the shop began: "We rented space in the Seminole Heights antique market for awhile. We did well in the little space we had. The building on Nebraksa became available. We needed a bigger space."
Her thoughts on the local business community: "I think it's coming together. The restaurants and bars are a large part of it. The retail will come because the younger people are moving to the area."
