1 Dead In Tampa Pedestrian Crash
A 70-year-old Tampa man is dead following a crash on Independence Parkway Tuesday morning.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Tuesday morning on Independence Parkway.
According to the agency, Nolan Alfredo Contreras, 28, of Fort Lauderdale was heading north on Independence Parkway around 7:50 a.m. Dec. 27. As Contreras’ 2011 Kia SUV neared Memorial Highway, he struck pedestrian Dante Rafael Medina, 70, of Tampa.
“It is unclear how the accident occurred, and the case is still under investigation,” an email from the police department said. “At this time, no charges have been filed.”

Police say Contreras remained at the accident scene and cooperated with police.
