1 Person Dies, 2 Others Hospitalized Following West Tampa House Fire

It took firefighters 45 minutes to douse the blaze. Tampa fire investigators are investigating the cause of the fire.

TAMPA, FL — Three people were taken to the hospital for treatment following a fire that swept through a house in West Tampa on Thursday. According to Tampa Fire Rescue, one person subsequently died.

Tampa Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire at a single-story home in the 3400 block of Beach Street in West Tampa at 8:53 a.m. and found the house about 50 percent involved with heavy smoke and flames coming from the carport.

Neighbors told firefighters that the residents were possibly home when the fire broke out. Firefighters entered the home and found two people inside whom they promptly rescued. A third victim was also discovered. They were rushed to the hospital where one person died from fire-related injuries.
