148 Arrested In Human Trafficking Sting: Hillsborough County Sheriff

Seven victims were also recovered during Operation Summer Shield, a human trafficking sting operation, the Hillsborough County sheriff said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — One hundred and forty-eight people were arrested as part of a human trafficking sting operation, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

The agency’s Human Trafficking Squad made the arrests during the 102-day-long Operation Summer Shield.

Seven victims were also recovered, the agency said.

"Our mission is clear: to protect our community and hold traffickers accountable," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "We will not rest until every victim is safe and every trafficker is behind bars. Let me be clear: traffickers, your days of exploiting innocent people are over in Hillsborough County."

Since the squad formed in June 2021, it has resulted in 793 arrests and the recovery of 42 victims.
