2-Alarm Fire Ravages Commercial Building On Fowler Avenue In Tampa

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Fire Marshal Office investigators are looking into the cause of a two-alarm fire that tore through an abandoned commercial building on Fowler Avenue near Temple Terrace Sunday.

Tampa Fire Rescue was called to the fire in the 5100 block of East Fowler Avenue at 4:50 a.m. The first crews to arrive found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front and side of the building. Firefighters attempted to battle the flames from the interior of the structure, however, heavy fire and rapidly deteriorating conditions caused firefighters to evacuate the building.

A second alarm was declared, bringing additional firefighters to the scene. Crews battled the fire for approximately 45 minutes before bringing it under control.
