2-Alarm Fire Sweeps Through South Tampa Home Monday Morning

It took Tampa firefighters about an hour to control a house fire that erupted in South Tampa Monday morning.

TAMPA, FL — It took Tampa firefighters about an hour to control a house fire that erupted in South Tampa Monday morning.

According to a news release, Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a fire in the 4000 block of Laurel Drive at about 6:15 a.m. to find smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the two-story home.

The fire was upgraded to two alarms due to the size of the home and the need for additional manpower to fight the fire, the fire rescue said.

A family was inside the home when the fire began, however, all residents were able to get out and there were no reported injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
