TAMPA, FL — Two people face charges after a hit-and-run crash that injured a Shell gas station clerk in Tampa, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.
Deputies responded to the Shell gas station at 11302 North Dale Mabry Highway on Monday just after 2 p.m. after reports of a hit-and-run.
Investigators determined that the vehicle involved in the incident parked in front of the store when it got to the gas station.

The front-seat passenger, Jose Corbo, 24, entered the store, took two soda bottles without paying and left the store, the sheriff's office said.
When the store clerk confronted Corbo as he re-entered the vehicle, the driver, Marie Uribe, 24, sped away.

The victim tried to intervene, approaching the car, and Corbo held the victim's arm onto it before ultimately pushing them out. The victim lost her balance and was run over as the vehicle left the scene, HCSO said.
The clerk was brought to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
Uribe was arrested Monday and charged with leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury and two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Corbo was charged with two counts of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, resisting arrest or detention in retail theft, petit theft ($100 or less), and an out-of-county warrant for grand theft motor vehicle.
“This senseless act of violence left an innocent person seriously injured. We will not tolerate reckless actions like this that put lives at risk,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “We hope this arrest brings some measure of comfort to the victim as she recovers from this traumatic incident."
