2 Florida Airports Rank As North America's Best
Two Sunshine State airports were named among the best in customer experience in North America.

TAMPA, FL — When it comes to “providing an excellent customer experience,” two airports in Florida are among the very best in North America. That’s according to Airports Council International, which released its 2016 Airport Service Quality Awards winners on Monday.
Jacksonville International Airport tied in first place with Indianapolis and Toronto Billy Bishop Airport. Tampa International came in second in North America, tied with El Paso and Ottawa.
This year’s awards release marks the 10th anniversary for the program. Winners are selected via an annual survey of an estimated 600,000 travelers from across the globe. The surveys are conducted in 41 languages and in 84 countries, the council explained in a media release.

The surveys are designed to measure travelers views on such performance indicators as airport access, restrooms, stores, restaurants and security screening, among others.
“These airports have dedicated themselves to delivering a stellar customer experience,” Angela Gittens, director of ACI World, said in announcing this year’s winners.

Tampa International was also called out for being the best airport in North America serving 15 to 25 million passengers a year.
The council was founded in 1991 to promote cooperation among airports and to represent “the best interests of airports during key phases of policy development,” according to its media release.
