2 Women Spend Christmas In Quarry On FL Golf Course Before Rescue
Two women who spent Christmas at the bottom of a quarry at a Citrus County golf course after falling into it were rescued Thursday.

LECANTO, FL — Two women who fell about 50 feet into a quarry at a golf course on Christmas Day were rescued Thursday, Citrus County Fire Rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
The “challenging rescue” took place at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, the agency said. The women fell into the quarry on The Quarry Course near hole 17.
While they fell into the quarry on Christmas Day, they weren’t found until Thursday morning, CCFR said.

“Despite adverse weather preventing air support, our dedicated crews, with the assistance of Black Diamond Ranch maintenance personnel, executed a successful low-angle rescue,” the agency wrote.
The women were conscious and breathing at the time of their rescue, ABC Action News said.

Both were stabilized and brought to a local trauma hospital, rescue crews said.
Designed by Tom Fazio, The Quarry Course “is unlike any other golf course in Florida, thanks to the steep drop offs and rolling hills of the beautiful Citrus County,” according to Black Diamond’s website.
Holes 13 through 17 of this course “play across and around the rims of two canyons up to 80 feet deep,” according to Black Diamond.
Authorities didn’t say whether the women were golfing at the time they fell into the quarry, or release their names and ages.
