5 Residents, 2 Dogs Left Homeless After Tampa Duplex Caught Fire

Firefighters were called to the 1700 block of West Main Street around 11:30 p.m. Thursday and found heavy smoke and flames.

TAMPA, FL — Five adults and two dogs were rescued from a fire that swept through a duplex on West Main Street in Old West Tampa Thursday night.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, firefighters were called to the 1700 block of West Main Street around 11:30 p.m. and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the single-story duplex.

All occupants of the duplex including the family pets made it out safely and Tampa Fire Rescue extinguished the fire within an hour.

The Red Cross was contacted to assist the families left homeless from the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
