Andre Rieu Announces Tampa Tour Stop
Andre Rieu, the 'King of the Waltz,' is making a stop at Tampa's Amalie Arena later this year.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area music lovers with a passion for eclectic performances may want to jot a date down on their calendars. Andre Rieu and his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra plan to make a stop at Amalie Arena Nov. 1. Tickets for the show go on sale Feb. 10.
“Andre has created a global revival in waltz music, staging spectacular extravaganzas which are second to none,” arena officials said in announcing the show. “Having received over 490 Platinum Awards, three Classical Brit Awards for ‘Album of the Year’ and billions of YouTube views, Andre is one of the biggest solo male touring artists in the world.”
Rieu, known as the “King of the Waltz,” has sold more than 40 million CDs and DVDs worldwide while earning 30 No. 1 chart positions across the globe. His musical program tends to include a diverse selection, including folk songs, film scores and waltzes.

When asked how he chooses he program, he answered “with my heart. I love Johann Strauss but I am also fascinated by Andrew Lloyd Webber or Bruce Springsteen. We should stop limiting ourselves with categories and boundaries – not just in terms of music but in our lives in general.”
Tickets for Rieu’s Tampa performance go on sale Friday, Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. They’ll be available at the arena’s McDonald’s Ticket Office, through Ticketmaster outlets and by calling 800-745-3000. Tickets start at $39 and go up to $99. They don’t include service charges or facility fees.
