Brush Fire Closes Portion of South Westshore Boulevard; Drivers Warned

TAMPA, FL — A brush fire that broke out in South Tampa on Monday has closed a portion of South Westshore Boulevard as fire rescue crews work to battle the blaze.

According to Tampa Fire Rescue, due to a fire hose on the ground, South Westshore Boulevard is closed between West Wallcraft and West Chapin avenues.

Florida Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson is warning residents and businesses against open burning. He said more than 1,000 wildfires have burned more than 35,000 acres in Florida this spring.
