Cameras Catch Fort Brooke Parking Garage Attacker

The cameras were installed during the Republican National Convention in August.

A 57-year-old man wanted on an outstanding warrant in another state was charged with attempted sexual battery and kidnapping in connection with a Thursday morning attack on a woman in the Fort Brooke Parking Garage downtown.

The suspect, Glen Mayfield, whose last known address was 19814 Center Avenue in Delaware, was also charged with failure to register as a sex offender and faces charges for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court, according to the Tampa Police Department.

The victim, a 63-year-old woman, parked on the eighth floor of the parking garage around 11:37 a.m. and was headed to the ninth floor elevator when police say Mayfield grabbed her, dragged her into the stairwell, pushed her to the ground and punched her several times. The woman heard people nearby and screamed, prompting Mayfield to flee, police said.
