Here are the top stories in Tampa today:
1. Tampa-based data center provider Ace Host has become a leader in crypto mining. Ace Host’s downtown Tampa facility is rated to withstand a Category 4 hurricane and the business boasts 99.9% uptime. Business is booming as blockchain technology and cryptocurrency grow and owner Russel Bruno wants to keep the business in Tampa Bay and Florida in the future. (St. Pete Catalyst)

2. East Lake High School student Julian Thacker of Pinellas County was chosen to perform in the 2021 Macy's Great American Marching Band in New York City on Thanksgiving. Thacker was one of only 185 musicians chosen nationwide and performed on national television. (Bay News 9)
3. 69-year-old Robert Kessler of Lutz has been arrested for the murder of 47-year-old Stephanie Crone-Overholts. Body parts of Crone-Overholts were recently found in McKay Bay. Kessler is charged with second-degree murder and abuse of a dead body. The cause of death is still unknown, but the death was ruled a homicide. (Tampa Patch)
4. Florida Republican Rep. Brad Drake has filed “free speech” legislation that would require the state or its licensing boards to prove by clear and convincing evidence that a health care provider’s social media posts caused harm to a current patient before revoking or threatening to revoke a license, certificate, or registration. The bill states Florida Department of Health or its licensure boards would be liable for up to $1.5 million to any doctor who suffers direct or indirect damages as a result of an unsuccessful regulatory effort. 5. Christmas in the Wild is back at ZooTampa from today through December 30th. It has one of one of Tampa Bay’s largest light displays with six “illuminated zones of lights” and festive entertainment. There will also be carolers, holiday treats, Santa, elves, and more. (myQ105.com)
