Cooler Weather On The Way For Tampa Bay Area

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents tired of running their air conditioners overtime may find the forecast for the week ahead refreshing. According to the National Weather Service, there’s a reprieve from the heat on the way. Even so, the region is in for a few more balmy days before that break arrives.

Tuesday is expected to kick off the post-holiday workweek with mostly sunny skies and a high in the low 80s. Temperatures should cool to the mid-60s in the overnight hours with partly cloudy skies likely overnight.

Wednesday is anticipated to arrive with mostly sunny skies and a high in the low 80s once again. A mostly clear nighttime sky is expected with a low in the lower 60s.

Thursday is anticipated to bring a change in the weather with a high only in the upper 70s forecast for much of the region. Mostly sunny skies, however, are expected during the daytime hours. Breezy, mostly cloudy conditions are anticipated to arrive overnight Thursday when the low should drop to the 50s in much of the region.

While sunny skies dominate the forecast for Friday, folks may notice a bit of a chill in the area. The daytime high is only expected to reach the low 60s. Overnight, the temperature is forecast to fall into the low 40s.

New Year’s Eve is expected to shape up to be near postcard perfect. Sunny conditions with a high around 70 degrees should mark the daytime hours. Overnight, the region is in for partly cloudy conditions and a low in the upper 50s.

The break from the heat is expected to end on New Year’s Day. Forecasters expect mostly sunny skies with a high near 80 degrees in much of the region. The overnight low should fall to the mid-60s.

Rain isn’t a strong part of the forecast throughout the coming week, but that doesn’t mean a few stray drops won’t fall. Chances for showers do creep back into the picture on Monday at 20 percent. The day’s high is expected to climb into the low 80s yet again.
