TAMPA, FL — The most expensive house ever sold in Tampa, once home to Derek Jeter and Tom Brady, may soon be demolished, according to reports.

A permit for commercial demolition at the 1.25-acre Davis Islands estate was filed in recent days, WFLA reported.

Former New York Yankees star Jeter sold the nearly 22,000-square-foot mansion last year for $22.5 million in the most expensive home sale ever in Tampa, Patch reported at the time. Jeter rented the residence to Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady in 2020, according to the Tampa Bay Times, and later sold the mansion after Jeter’s family moved to Miami.

The house has seven bedrooms, 16 bathrooms and a seemingly endless array of amenities, including a movie theater, professional gym, wine cellar and six-car garage, according to Smith & Associates Real Estate. Luxury can be found throughout the walled estate, in the form of thousands of square feet of porches and balconies, a dock with two boat lifts, a heated spa, and an 80-foot saltwater pool, Smith & Associates said.

So, who would want to change all that? The Times reported that the new owner of the property is a trust run by local attorney David L. Koche. It remains unclear whether the structure will be destroyed or rebuilt, according to WFLA.
