Driver Shot At Car On I-4: Florida Highway Patrol

A Lakeland man said another driver fired a shot at his car Monday morning on Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County, FL Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Investigators are looking for a driver accused of shooting at another car on westbound Interstate 4 Monday morning in Hillsborough County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

A 28-year-old Lakeland man said his car had been struck by a bullet near milepost 14 around 6 a.m.

Troopers who responded to the scene found a single bullet that entered the engine compartment.

The victim told troopers that “a light-skinned man driving an older model Dodge Ram with yellow weather headlights” and an unknown Florida license plate had been tailgating him, FHP said.

The shooter pulled adjacent to the victim and fired a round from a full-sized semi-automatic handgun, according to the agency. The driver sped away, taking a nearby exit and driving off the interstate.
