Dump Truck Driver Fled After Fatal Crash: Cops
A Monday morning crash on Columbus Drive has left a man dead as authorities search for a dump truck that fled the scene.
TAMPA, FL — An adult male is dead following a Monday morning hit-and-run crash on Columbus Drive. A search is now on for the dump truck driver the Tampa Police Department said was involved.
According to the police department, the crash happened at the road’s intersection with 53rd Street North around 5:40 a.m. Feb. 20. After the man was hit, the truck took off.
Police say a vehicle matching the description has been pulled over by a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy in the area of North 50th Street and Interstate 4. It remains unclear if the truck pulled over is the one involved in the crash.
