Family, Dog Rescued From Chest-Level Floodwaters: Watch
Watch Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputies rescue a family and their dog from a flooded home near the Alafia River after hurricane.

HILLSBOROUGH RIVER, FL — In the aftermath of Hurricane Milton, the Alafia River experienced historic flooding.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office recently shared a deputy’s bodycam footage of a family of three and their dog being rescued from chest-level floodwaters in their home on Oct. 11. (Watch the video below.)
By 1 p.m. that day — about a day-and-a-half after Milton made landfall in Siesta Key as a Category 3 storm — the river exceeded 23 feet. That’s 4 feet higher than what’s considered major flooding for the river and the highest recorded waters since 1933, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Deputies went out into neighborhoods along the river to rescue residents affected by the flooding.
In the video shared by the sheriff’s office, deputies with the Marine Unit can be seen wading through chest-level waters to bring the family and their confused-looking pup onto a boat for safety.
