Fatal Crash Closes Hillsborough Avenue Lanes

Motorists are being asked to avoid a section of West Hillsborough Avenue following a fatal Monday night crash.

TAMPA, FL — The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash that closed lanes along West Hillsborough Avenue Monday night.

According to the agency, the crash occurred in the 3900 block of West Hillsborough Avenue sometime before 9 p.m. March 27.

“Drivers should avoid this area and seek alternate routes,” the agency wrote in an email to media. “No traffic will be permitted from eastbound on Hillsborough from Lois to Dale Mabry.”

The agency expected at 9:09 p.m. that lanes would remained closed for at least three hours as investigators worked the scene. No further information, including the names of those involved, is available at this time.
