FL Airman Tried To Meet 14-Year-Old For Sex At MacDill: U.S. DOJ

A Tampa man who served in the U.S. Air Force was found guilty of trying to meet a 14-year-old girl he met online for sex, the U.S. DOJ said.

TAMPA, FL — A member of the U.S. Air Force was found guilty of attempted enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity after trying to meet an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old girl online, according to a U.S. Department of Justice news release.

Jonathan Kuykendall, 39, of Tampa faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years up to life in federal prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 19.

In June 2022, Kuykendall, while stationed at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, began messaging someone named Ms. Glitter online. Within their first few messages, Ms. Glitter told him that she was 14 years old and lived on the base with her single mother, the DOJ said.

During the next two weeks, Kuykendall groomed Ms. Glitter, gradually introducing sexual topics. He talked about cuddling with her and kissing her, eventually sending more graphic descriptions of sex acts, as well as pornographic images, the DOJ said.

Thinking Ms. Glitter’s mother wasn’t home, he agreed to come to her house on the Air Force base on June 24, 2022. He took several male sexual enhancement pills and approached the back door.
