1. Caladesi Island in Dunedin was named one of the top 10 beaches in America by Dr. Beach. If they weren’t planning to be busy before Memorial Day, they certainly will be now. (Tampa Bay Times)

2. The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office upheld a manslaughter charge against a 27-year-old Dunkin’ manager who fatally punched a 77-year-old man who used a racial slur against him. The employees at Dunkin' reportedly asked the older man to leave the facility, but he entered the facility and began arguing with the manager which led to the altercation. (Patch)

3. Tampa-based Florigrown lost a legal battle at the Florida Supreme Court that sought to challenge state rules on medical marijuana in a unanimous ruling with six of the seven justices signed on. Florida medical marijuana laws require license holders to handle cannabis products every step of the way. (Florida Politics)

4. The Florida Holocaust Museum was vandalized on Thursday morning with a painted swastika. Vandals also painted “Jews are guilty” on the wall of the building. Police are looking for those behind the incident. (Tampa Bay Times)

5. Glazer Children's Museum is opening a new exhibit based on the PBS KIDS show, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, just in time for summer. It opens May 29th and will run through September 6th. (WFLA)

  • Rock the Yacht at Yacht StarShip. Enjoy music on the river. (9:30 p.m.)

Tampa Patch Notebook:

  • Hillsborough County Offices and Facilities will be closed for Memorial Day. There will be no solid waste collection for those in the unincorporated area. For customers whose collection day falls on Monday, normal service will resume on the next scheduled day for pickup of those items. Find a full list here.
  • Brew Bus is closing in Seminole Heights, but planning to re-open 2 blocks away.
  • The first Breeze Airways flight took off Thursday from Tampa to Charleston.
  • The Tampa Bay Lightning are welcoming 13,500 fans for Round 2 of the playoffs.
