- Yaya + Lou is holding its grand opening in Tampa's Hyde Park Village today, Aug. 19. The store offers items for children and will be located at 1625 Snow Circle. The store will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. (Tampa Patch)
- Police are searching for a Florida Proud Boy who was convicted on seven criminal charges for his role in the Jan. 6 Insurrection on Capitol Hill and is facing 14 years in prison. Christopher Worrell never showed up to federal court on Friday in Washington, D.C. Police said he used pepper spray gel on police officers on that fateful day. Anyone with information about Worrell can call the FBI Tampa Field Office at 813-253-1000 or submit a tip online. (WFLA)
- Hillsborough Republicans are seeking candidates for office due to a lack of challengers for Democrats in four local offices. No Republican has yet to challenge Property Appraiser Bob Henriquez, Elections Supervisor Craig Latimer, Tax Collector Nancy Millan or Clerk of Court Cindy Stuart. - La Gaceta, a local tri-lingual newspaper, is arguing that City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor's tax increase is actually 30.39 percent for local residents. They argued the proposed budget growth is unsustainable for taxpayers and more funding should be used for transit. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
- Buddy Brew Coffee is opening a new cafe at the University of South Florida's Tampa campus on Monday, Aug. 21. It will be located at the new Judy Genshaft Honors College. Students, faculty, staff and friends are invited to visit for a free cup of brewed coffee all day on opening day. (That's So Tampa)
