GET OUT: Weekend Events Preview March 15-17

With a variety of entertainment venues and restaurants in the area, there's no reason to spend the weekend at home. We've put together a list of fun things to do in the South Tampa-Hyde Park area.

Chalktail Cocktail Party

Hyde Park Village invites all residents to celebrate the arts at the Chalktail Cocktail Party, a kick-off party for the Chalk Walk, Friday, March 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the fountain. The party will feature craft beer by Blue Moon, live music, appearances by Busch Gardens stilt walkers and gourmet food trucks.

Chalk Walk

The annual Chalk Walk will take place Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 at Hyde Park Village. More than 50 chalk and plein air artists will create works of art on the sidewalks. There will be crafts and activities for the kids, drink specials, live music and an open-air market.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Rough Riders will host their annual St. Patrick's Day parade Saturday, March 16 starting at 8 p.m. along 7th Avenue in Ybor City. More than 100 floats are expected.

Irish 31 St. Paddy's Fest

Irish 31, 1621 Snow Circle in Hyde Park Village, will host its annual St. Paddy's Fest Saturday, March 16 from 4 p.m. to midnight and Sunday, March 17 from noon to 10 p.m. The event will feature a St. Paddy look-alike contest Saturday starting at 5:30 p.m. and a kids' zone and corn-hole tournament Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Downtown Sunday Market

The Tampa Downtown Sunday Market is held each Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 600 and 700 blocks of Franklin Street. More than 50 vendors sell produce, art, specialty food and crafts.

'Circle Mirror Transformation' on Stage

Stageworks Theatre, 1120 E. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa, will present "Circle Mirror Transformation" Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 3 p.m.

Family Easter Eggstravaganza

iBelong, the children's ministry at Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, is hosting a Family Easter Eggstravaganza Saturday, March 16 at 10 a.m. at the church, 3723 W. Bay to Bay Blvd., Tampa. The free event includes crafts, games, snacks and an Easter egg hunt.

Musical Love Language

Come and enjoy the musical entertainment of the talented duo Sonny Daye and Perley Rousseau as they perform some of the world’s most beautiful romance languages Saturday, March 16 at 2 p.m. at the John F. Germany Public Library, 900 N. Ashley Dr., Tampa. Featured songs include: La Vie En Rose, Besame Mucho and Corcovado, all with English translations.

Social and Cycling

The Tampa Bay Runners Club meets Sundays at 4 p.m. at 97 Columbia Dr. on Davis Islands for a bike ride and social hour.
