Girl, 15, Brought Gun To Tampa High School: Hillsborough Sheriff
A 15-year-old girl was arrested for bringing a gun on campus at Armwood High School in Tampa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
TAMPA, FL — A 15-year-old girl was arrested Wednesday for bringing a gun on campus at Armwood High School, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The student was charged with being a minor in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm on school property.
Though the sheriff’s office named the girl, it’s Patch policy not to publish the names of minors who are charged as juveniles. It’s not known whether she was charged as a juvenile or an adult.

The school resource deputy assigned to Armwood received a tip about the student possibly having a gun on campus just after 11 a.m.
During an administrative search, a handgun was found in her bag, the sheriff’s office said.

"It's heartbreaking and completely unacceptable that a student would ever bring a weapon onto school grounds. Actions like these create unnecessary fear and undermine the trust and safety we strive to build in our schools every day," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "We stand firm in our commitment to keep our students and staff safe and will continue to address such incidents with the seriousness they deserve."
