Girl Dies, 2 Other Children Injured After Being Hit By Truck In Tampa

The three children were hit by a truck while running across a street in the Tampa area, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

TAMPA, FL — A girl died and two other children were injured after they were hit by a truck while running across a Tampa street on Sunday night, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The children ran across north 56th Street at the intersection of Society Park Boulevard and into the path of a Chevy Silverado driven by a 34-year-old Hialeah man just before 8 p.m.

An 11-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries when they were hit by the truck, FHP said. They were brought to an area hospital.

A 7-year-old girl injured in the crash was brought to an area hospital, where she later died, troopers said.
