APOLLO BEACH, FL — Florida is unique in many ways, and that includes places to eat. A national food website that lists the best diner in every state took the extra step of selecting two diners in the Sunshine State.

LoveFood.Com has named the Apollo Beach Diner in Apollo Beach in Hillsborough County and @The Diner in Orlando as the best diners in the state.

"This cute, nautical-themed joint is loved by customers for its great service and huge portions of classic comfort food, " the foodie site said. "It's a busy little spot so you may have to wait, but the delicious dishes such as country-fried steak with home fries and your choice of toast or a biscuit, Apollo omelet with ham, bacon, sausage, and onion, and towering French toast topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce are more than worth it."

"When the owners of this Orlando eatery couldn't find a diner in the area with high-quality comfort food and great service to match, they decided to take matters into their own hands," the food website said. "@ The Diner fills that particular gap in the market by focusing on eggs, waffles, and French toast for breakfast, and hearty entrées for lunch. The highlight of the menu has to be the classic chicken waffles, ;finished with honey and powdered sugar."

The diner has three locations:

  • Grand Oaks Village (Dr. Phillips), 5072 Doctor Phillips Blvd., Orlando
  • Lake Buena Vista, 11895 South Apopka Vineland Road, Orlando
  • Lake Cay (Universal/Sea World), 9938 Universal Blvd., Orlando

Hours are Monday through Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Grand Oaks Village site, and Monday through Sunday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the other two locations.

Breakfast fare includes eggs, different omelets, and a variety of french toast, eggs Benedict, pancakes, and waffles. Morning favorites include chicken and biscuits, biscuits and sausage gravy, and loaded grits.

About @ The Diner:

According to the business' website: "When we started this venture in 2017, we must admit that our motives were a little bit selfish. We were getting tired of not finding that one neighborhood spot where the food tastes like home and the service feels like family. Native New Yorker's with over 20 years experience now residing in Florida, we finally began to visualize it. We immediately started looking for the perfect location to share our vision with Orlando. Being family owned & operated we are intensely passionate about bringing fresh made affordable food and friendly comfortable service to your table."
