FL Armed Home Invasion Suspects Hid Air Tag On Victims’ Car: Watch

Two men were arrested weeks after an armed home invasion in Hillsborough County, the sheriff's office said.

ODESSA, FL — The suspects in an August armed home invasion in Odessa have been arrested, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post. (Watch surveillance video footage from the incident below.)

On Aug. 19, the suspects forced the victims into their garage at gunpoint before fleeing when an alarm was triggered.

Detectives later discovered an AirTag tracking device taped beneath the victims’ vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators identified the suspects and arrested them weeks later.

Luis Charles, 26, was taken into custody in Tampa on Oct. 8, while Odardy Maldonado-Rodriguez, 32, was arrested in Pasco County on Oct. 10.

Their charges include armed burglary of a dwelling with assault or battery and armed kidnapping, the sheriff’s office said.

"To be ambushed at gunpoint in the very place you should feel safest is every family’s worst nightmare," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "Thanks to the work of our detectives, these dangerous criminals are now behind bars where they belong, and the victims, along with our community, can rest a little easier."
