HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Hillsborough County firefighters are remembering one of their own who lost his battle against COVID-19 this week.
Hillsborough County Fire Rescue driver/engineer Giovanni Ciancio died from complications related to the COVID-19 he contracted at work in July.
Ciancio, 55, was assigned to Station 15 in Palm River and was with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue for more than 19 years.

Ciancio, an American citizen, immigrated to the United States from Italy when he was in his 20s.
