'Holiday of Tables' Event Held at Kate Jackson Community Center
The center is at 821 S. Rome Avenue.

The fundraiser at Idlewild Baptist Church involved fine china and decoration of tables for the holiday season.
Queen Matthews, a recreational leader at Kate Jackson Community Center in south Tampa, thought the idea would work well for after school program kids. So she helped organize "Holiday of Tables," an event that allows decoration of a table with a holiday theme. The tables will be shown off during an event on Thursday, Dec. 13 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
This year, five canned goods are required if you want to attend. Santa Claus will make an appearance, the after school program kids will sing "The Twelve Days of Christmas," and pizza donated from Papa John's and Pizza Hut will be served.
Matthews said the purpose of the event is to highlight the importance of giving.

"It's not all about gifts and giving," she said. "You have to realize there's people out there who are less fortunate. We have to be thankful for what we have. It's more of a blessing to give than to receive."
