Hurricane Irma Aftermath: Stan Lee To Attend MegaCon Tampa Bay
The 94-year-old Spider-Man creator will auction off a one-on-one meal with "Stan the Man" himself to support Feeding Florida.
TAMPA, FL – Stan Lee knows a thing or two about superheroes. After Hurricane Irma passed through the Tampa Bay region, the 94-year-old Spider-Man creator will attend MegaCon Tampa Bay for the first time to help one of the largest charitable superheroes in the state.
MegaCon, the Southeast’s largest fan convention, announced Thursday that Lee will appear at the Tampa Bay event Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 to help support Feeding Florida. The convention will also donate $5 per ticket for 2,000 of the admission tickets sold online to the state network of food banks.
Lee will auction off experiences and items, including a rare one-on-one meal with himself and artwork from his personal collection. The live auction will take place on Friday, Sept. 29 during Lee’s panel at MegaCon Tampa Bay. Attendees must be in the room to bid.

“Florida is in need of some cheering up and what better person to do that than the one and only Stan Lee,” said Andrew Moyers, vice president of FanExpo HQ, the host of MegaCon Tampa Bay. “We are excited to be bringing Stan to Tampa Bay for the first time and to work with him to support those communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.”
Feeding Florida’s 14-member foodbanks through the state, including Feeding Tampa Bay, Feeding South Florida and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, deliver food and emergency supplies to help people cope in the aftermath of disasters like Hurricane Irma.

The charitable organization also serves as a core member of Florida’s Emergency Operations Center to help coordinate the state’s emergency food response and disaster supplies. It also works to educate the public on the best ways to help without causing a “second disaster” of uncoordinated donations and volunteers.
“The generous support of the MegaCon Tampa Bay community will allow Feeding Florida to provide necessary supplies to our families directly impacted by Hurricane Irma,” said Robin Safley, the executive director of Feeding Florida. “Partnerships like this allow our statewide network of food banks to continue to support every community and provide many of the front-line services required during response and recovery efforts.”
MegaCon organizers estimate fans will raise an estimated $20,000 to Feeding Florida’s hurricane relief efforts through Lee’s personal auction and the ticket drive.
Single-day tickets for MegaCon Tampa Bay start at $25 and are available at www.megacontampabay.com/tickets.
