TAMPA, FL — Daiso, a Japanese chain bargain store, is expanding into Florida and will open its first store in the state in Tampa next month.

The location at 15702 N. Dale Mabry Highway will host a grand opening on Feb. 1 and 2, according to a Facebook event posted by Daiso USA.

An exclusive goodie bag will be given to the first 100 customers who make a $30 purchase at the new store each day.

The variety chain, known as a ‘100-yen store,’ announced in July that it would open a store in Tampa’s Northdale Promenade plaza, the Business Observer reported this summer.

One hundred yen is the equivalent of .65 cents in the U.S., though most products range from $1.75 to $15.25, Creative Loafing said.

The 50-year-old, family-owned brand boasts more than 100,000 products including home decor, stationery, beauty products, food and more, according to the company website.

Daiso operates 6,000 stores around the world and about 150 in the United States. The brand moved into the U.S. in 2005.
