1. Tampa Police Department says that a woman whose body was found in an abandoned house in Tampa’s Old Seminole Heights last month was the victim of a homicide. She suffered upper body trauma. Detectives are asking the public for help with any information they might know about the victim Linda Harris. (Patch Tampa)

2. The City of Tampa has announced it will no longer will require COVID tests for unvaccinated employees. However, those who opt out of the weekly test will not accrue emergency sick leave. 70% of city employees are vaccinated. (WTSP)

3. The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) on Thursday filed a cease-and-desist order requesting that a judge order Florida to stop withholding funds from school districts that received federal money to cover school board members' salaries. The DOE wrote that Florida violated federal law by reducing state funds based on the receipt by districts of federal fund. (Orlando Weekly)

4. Kittenish is a new women's clothing store opening soon at Hyde Park Village. It will be located at at 800 South Village Circle, next to Pottery Barn. (That's So Tampa)

5. Downtown St. Petersburg bakery Swah-rey is permanently closing both locations next month. The owner and her partner are relocating to San Diego. They are taking orders until November 7th. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
