2. The Artspace Tampa Initiative is aiming to show the growing need for affordable housing and studio spaces for creatives to thrive in the area. 76% of creatives have considered leaving Tampa if affordable living and working paces don’t become available soon. (83 Degrees Media)
3. Many Tampa Bay missing women cases are growing cold as families seek closure. Many cases do not make national headlines. The Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse currently lists 726 missing people in its clearinghouse. (Tampa Patch)
4. Florida has finally applied for $2.3 billion in federal school funding after widespread criticism. It was the last state in the country to apply and led to a political battle over why Florida was not seeking funds for schools that are available from the government. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
5. Sue Burkett, a former principal at Burns Middle School and former principal at Bloomingdale High, has been promoted to Hillsborough County Public Schools’ chief of schools. One of her goals is to improve student academic performance that was damaged by COVID-19. (Osprey Observer)
