Man, 23, Killed In Dale Mabry Motorcycle Crash

A Wednesday night motorcycle crash on Dale Mabry left one man dead and another injured.

TAMPA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a Wednesday night motorcycle crash that left a 23-year-old Tampa man dead and another man injured.

According to the patrol, Marcos Matos, 28, of Tampa was turning left from southbound Dale Mabry Highway onto eastbound Idlewild Avenue around 11:48 p.m. March 15. Matos was in the left turn lane in a Ford Contour, according to a highway patrol report.

Troopers say Cristobal Rodriguez was heading north on Dale Mabry on a Yamaha at that time.

Matos attempted to make the turn, but drove into the path of the oncoming motorcycle, the report said. The front of the Yamaha hit the passenger side of the Contour.

Rodriguez, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene, the report said.

Matos was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with minor injuries.

Charges have not yet been announced. The report noted that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
