'Alarming' Threats To Hillsborough Tax Collector Lead To Man's Arrest
A 40-year-old man has been charged with making a series of "alarming online threats" targeting the Hillsborough County Tax Collector.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 40-year-old man has been charged with making a series of "alarming online threats" targeting the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office, said the Hillsborough sheriff's office.
On Wednesday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigation Division was alerted to the threats. Detectives investigating the complaint identified Travis Leigh, 40, as the person suspected of making the threats, according to the sheriff's office.
Detectives went to Leigh's home where he admitted to transmitting written threats, expressing his intent to cause harm to the tax collector’s office because he was frustrated with their customer service, said the sheriff's office.

"We take any threat against our public institutions and their employees very seriously," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "Our detectives acted swiftly and efficiently to ensure the safety of all involved and to uphold the integrity of our community institutions."
Leigh was charged with written or electronic threat to kill or do bodily injury.
