Man Demands Food, Threatens Burger King Employees With Pliers: Police

A 50-year-old man was arrested after being accused of threatening employees at a Tampa Burger King with pliers, according to Tampa police.

TAMPA, FL — A 50-year-old man has been arrested after being accused of threatening employees at a Burger King restaurant, according to a Tampa police news release.

According to Tampa police, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Hubert Lee Credit Jr., who is homeless, walked into the Burger King at 611 S Dale Mabry Highway and demanded free food from the employees.

When the employees refused, police said Credit took a pair of pliers from his pocket, banged them on the counter and knocked over one of the cash registers before jumping over the service counter where police said he continued to make threats, according to a Tampa police news release.

In fear, a restaurant manager told a customer in the drive-through lane that they were in danger and asked the customer to call 911, according to a Tampa police news release.

The manager gave Credit food and, when Tampa police arrived, they said they found him in the men's bathroom eating it, according to a Tampa police news release.

Police said they ordered Credit out of the bathroom stall and took him into custody, charging him with robbery with a deadly weapon, according to a Tampa police news release.

No one was injured during the incident, according to a Tampa police news release.

Credit is being held in the Hillsborough County Jail on $15,500 bail, according to Hillsborough County Jail records.

The incident was caught on the restaurant's surveillance video, according to a Tampa police news release.
