HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A man faces multiple charges after he drove into several deputies with his car while trying to avoid arrest on Sept. 9, according to a Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Sean Bolton, 28, was arrested with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer with a motor vehicle, aggravated fleeing to elude law enforcement, possession of marijuana and driving while license is suspended.

Deputies tried to stop his car for an illegal window tint and failing to stop at a stop sign around 5:30 p.m.

Bolton refused to pull over and drove off, the sheriff’s office said. Covert surveillance tracked his car into the Carriage Point subdivision, where deputies tried to deploy stop sticks.

He deliberately aimed his car at a uniformed deputy standing at the edge of the road, who had to avoid being hit, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies followed his car and at the intersection of Ekker Road and Carriage Point Drive, they tried to stop him to end the pursuit.

Bolton intentionally rammed two HCSO vehicles and drove off again, prompting deputies to continue following him for another mile, the sheriff’s office said.

“During the pursuit, which lasted under a mile, Bolton’s reckless driving caused a deputy’s vehicle to strike a tree and another deputy’s vehicle to crash into a backyard fence on Carriage Point Drive,” the sheriff’s office said. “During that impact, a fence post was sent through the deputy's window, narrowly missing the deputies inside.”

Deputies were eventually able to pull him over using a PIT maneuver.

Three deputies suffered minor injuries during the incident. They were treated at Tampa General Hospital and later released.

"This individual had multiple opportunities to do the right thing and pull over, but instead, he chose to continue his reckless and dangerous behavior, showing a complete disregard for the safety of our deputies and the community members around him," Sheriff Chad Chronister said. "His actions were irresponsible and could have had far more tragic consequences.”
