FLORIDA — It’s “a roller coaster week ahead” in Florida with temperatures warming to start the work week before rain and another cold front that brings a double-digit drop in daily highs mid-week, the National Weather Service in Tampa Bay said.

Temperatures will warm through Tuesday with high pressure in control, the agency said.

Wednesday will see rain showers and scattered thunderstorms across the Tampa Bay area and much of Central Florida “with the passage of a frontal boundary,” NWS forecasters said.

This will be followed by cooler temperatures in the second half of the week, they said. Lows of 42 degrees are expected Wednesday night in the Tampa region.

It will be “sunny and warm the next couple of days with highs in the upper 70s or low 80s,” Denis Phillips, chief meteorologist for ABC Action News, wrote in a Facebook post. “Front brings some rain on Wednesday and maybe a couple of storms. Much colder air returns on Thursday.”

Lows will hit the low to mid 40s overnight Wednesday and Thursday in the Tampa Bay area, according to the NWS forecast for the region.

Areas along the Panhandle will see temperatures drop even lower than that, into the 30s, midweek, the agency said.

And even South Florida with lows in the 50s with highs in the low 70s, NBC Miami reported.

After that, temperatures will start to warm up for the weekend, the NWS said.

By Friday, the Tampa Bay area will see highs in the 70s and lows in the high 50s, the agency said.
