1. Sab Sushi is the latest concept from the owners of Sab Café to open in downtown St. Petersburg. Head sushi chef and manager Mike Boriboun has worked in Tampa Bay at places such as The LemonGrass Sushi Thai Tapas and Kona Grill. (St. Pete Rising)
2. Need a boost? Kahwa Coffee is giving away free small coffee drinks for National Coffee Day on September 29th. Kahwa has operated in Tampa Bay for more than 15 years now and recently celebrated the opening of GreenWise Market in Water Street Tampa, as the official coffee partner of the in-store cafes. 3. It's back: South St. Pete’s 22 South Food Hall is reopening next month on October 1st after a group of investors stepped into keep the project going. Planned vendors include Irie Mon Jamaican Grill, Betterway BBQ, Louie’s Italian Eatery, Haper’s Burgers, and Scratch. (Creative Loafing Tampa)
4. A plan to bring more than 300 apartments and 16 townhomes to a mostly residential neighborhood in South Tampa was withdrawn just before it was set to be heard by Tampa’s City Council this week after being staunchly opposed by neighbors in the area. The withdrawal has created questions about other projects that are opposed in the area. (Business Observer)
5. A contentious meeting over Tampa's crime-free housing program led to Tampa City Council members asking interim police chief Ruben "Butch" Delgado to report back exactly how the program helps lower crime by December. The program has been widely criticized by national civil rights groups including the NAACP. (Tampa Bay Times)
