1. Families defeated Governor Ron DeSantis in litigation over Florida mask rules in a ruling on Friday. Judge John Cooper of Florida's Second Judicial Circuit ruled school systems may order mask mandates and that the Governor's ban on mandates overstepped his powers. (St. Pete Patch)

2. Tampa Bay photographer Patricia Preston has staged an exhibit dedicated to local dive bars, specifically dive bar restrooms. Beak’s Old Key West, Gaspar’s Grotto, Mahuffer’s, The Reservoir, Tiny Tap, and The Hub are included. (Creative Loafing Tampa)

3. A St. Petersburg police officer died due to complications from COVID-19, the agency reported on Friday. Anyone who would like to give to Officer Weiskopf's family can send donations through SunCoast Law Enforcement Charities. A number of police officers have died around the state in recent weeks as the Delta variant surges. (Fox 13 Tampa Bay)

4. The Clearwater Marine Aquarium will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the “Dolphin Tale” movie during September. Props from the movie will be on display and the movie will screen all month. According to the aquarium, the movie brought in $2 billion to Pinellas County. (WFLA)

5. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are announcing a new redesigned specialty plate. Those interested can grab one at all tax collector offices and license plate agencies across the state. The original specialty plate was first-approved in 1994. (Tampa Patch)
