Nude Cruise Sets Sail From Tampa Next Month
The Big Nude Boat's 2017 Tampa cruise includes stops in Key West, Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk.

TAMPA, FL — Tampa Bay area residents and visitors who’ve always wanted to cruise in their birthday suits will soon get their chance. Bare Necessities Tour & Travel is preparing for the departure of its Big Nude Boat 2017 cruise out of Port Tampa early next month.
The clothing-optional cruise sets sail on Sunday, Feb. 5 from Tampa with stops in Key West, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Amber Cove on the itinerary. The voyage returns to Tampa in time for Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14.
Bare Necessities has been playing host to nude crises since 1991. The company’s first voyage included only 36 passengers. By 2013, the company chartered its largest cruise to date on the 3,000-person Carnival Freedom.

Bare Necessities says its aim is to “break down the barriers against social nudity and make clothing-optional vacationing a viable and acceptable option for all,” according to its website. “We support the belief that sexuality is not a state of undress, but rather, a state of mind. Social nudity is not a sexual activity, and we strive to dispel the misconception that it is anything but natural and beautiful.”
The cost to cruise bare ranges from $599 to $6,999 a person. While most rooms are booked on the Tampa cruise, Bare Necessities also has other cruises on its calendar, including a February 2018 venture out of Miami.
