Opening Of New Hangars Celebrated At Tampa Airports Celebrated
Skyport Aviation opened at new hangar at Tampa Executive Airport and Sheltair Aviation opened four hangars at Tampa International Airport.
TAMPA, FL — Officials from the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, Tampa International Airport and Skyport Aviation celebrated the grand opening of the Fixed-Base Operator’s new hangar at Tampa Executive Airport.
The $1.9 million structure adds 12,000 square feet of aircraft storage for Skyport clients. The hangar was built to the northeast of the main building, just a short walk away from the FBO’s lobby.
With more than 290 aircraft based at Tampa Executive Airport, hangar space was at capacity, leading to the new hangar project.

The project took six months to complete, including an additional 12,000 square feet of apron. It is the first private development at the airport in nearly 20 years.
“It’s really great to get to open this hangar because I know there were a lot of people who worked very hard to bring this together,” said Brett Fay, director of general aviation for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. “It’s outstanding to see this kind of investment and we’re really excited about what this means for the future of VDF and Skyport.”

Sheltair Opens 4 New Hangars
Another Fixed-Base Operator has opened four new hangars at Tampa International Airport.
Tampa International Airport officials joined Sheltair Aviation at a celebration for the opening of the new hangars at the FBO's award-winning facility in Tampa.
The $26 million project added another 77,000 square feet of hangar space and 32,000 square feet of office space to Sheltair's location, which is open 24 hours a day. The work also included adding a 336,208-square-foot apron.
It took 18 months to build the new additions to the 35-acre complex, including covered and uncovered parking. Sheltair's total footprint at Tampa International Airport now totals 300,557 square feet.
"What an incredible investment this is for our airport and our community, and I think it really is reflective of the service and the standard that Sheltair brings to our airport every single day," TPA Director of General Aviation Brett Fay said.
The complex can accommodate a range of aircraft, including large cabin-class aircraft, like the G650 or Global 7500. The hangars also feature a foam fire suppression system.
“We are excited to be opening these new hangars at TPA,” said Lisa Holland, Sheltair’s CEO and president. “These sleek, state-of-the-art facilities are a game-changer, not just for addressing the soaring demand in aircraft storage at TPA but also for fueling fresh economic growth in the airport’s vibrant community."
