Passenger Dies After Wrong-Way Driver Hits Car On FL Highway
A woman was driving the wrong-way because of a medical emergency when she hit another car, killing its passenger, FL troopers said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — The passenger in a car hit nearly head-on by a wrong-way driver Monday morning on U.S. 301 died from her injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.
A Nissan Altima driven by a 67-year-old Riverview woman was heading north in the highway’s southbound lanes because of a medical emergency around 11:45 a.m.
At the same time, a Toyota Corolla driven by a 74-year-old Valrico woman was heading south on U.S. 301.

The cars collided near the intersection of Harney Baptist Church Road, FHP said.
Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were brought to area hospitals.

The Toyota’s passenger, an 80-year-old Valrico woman, was seriously injured and brought to a local hospital, where she later died, FHP said.
