1. The Tampa Bay Rays attacked a lawsuit that has been launched against principal owner Stu Sternberg. The minority owners claim Sternberg had secret talks in 2014 with Montreal investors to sell a stake to the team. The Rays’ lease at Tropicana Field ends in the 2027 MLB season and they are locked in St. Pete until then. (Tampa Bay Times)

2. A local Riverview man known for passing out water bottles as an act of kindness passed away this week from a cardiac arrest. (Bay News 9)

3. The USF Health Morsani College is using 3D printers to create realistic organ replicas that are then used for teaching that are accurate in size and shape to within one hundredth of an inch. (Patch)

4. The University of South Florida has found no widespread effects from the Piney Point spill. Nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, have reportedly declined over the last six weeks and are now at the usual levels seen in the bay. (Bay News 9)

5. A mosquito-borne illness has been detected in Pasco County called eastern equine encephalitis. Residents are asked to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes and to take basic precautions to help limit exposure such as clearing standing water and wearing repellent. (WFLA)
